Uppingham Mens A 9 – 0 Queen Eleanor

With the excesses of Christmas and the New Year, it was a relief to get back to the rigours of match badminton. The first match of 2011 saw the Mens ‘A’ take on Queen Eleanor. The reverse fixture was the ‘A’ teams’ first victory of the season and was a closely fought 5-4 win, so this fixture was hotly anticipated. It proved to be a much less tight affair with Uppingham running out 9 – 0 winners, to set 2011 off on the right foot.

Mark B and Pete eased into a new partnership, with three comfortable wins in their matches. Sherman and Mark P put the ‘ups and downs’ of the first half of the season behind them and showed just how good their partnership could be, with three solid wins, and the stalwarts of the first half of the season, Peter and Matt, played their usual (up and down) game to get their monies worth from the evenings play, running out with three wins. Well done to all for a great start to the second half of the year.
