Fresh from the victory against Ramsey 2 on Saturday, the Hunts and Peterborough Men’s 6 side faced well known opposition in the form of Apollo from Werrington. Their Mens 2 team, made the journey to Uppingham on Tuesday evening with expectation in their hearts!
They stepped on court to face one of the most experienced sides that Uppingham have fielded in many a year, with the best part of 260 years between them (it would have been higher, but thankfully ‘young’ Matt was in the side to lower the average!). That skillfully assembled blend of age and experience proved vital on the night, against what proved to be the toughest opposition faced in this division so far, and the toughest faced by our Mens 6 team for a season and a half.
Mark and Paul continued where they left off on Saturday and ran out with three really good wins, and should be commended in the manner with which they demolished Apollos’ outstanding second pair, winning to 6 in the second end!
Peter A and Pete D had a typically eventful evening, winning two games comfortably, and using the wealth of experience contained in the mind of Pete D to overcome the second pairs mind games in three ends, having lost the first end to 9. It came down to a 22 – 20 final game!
Matt and Delwyn were unlucky to start against the best pairing, losing in two hard fought ends, but then picked up the pace to ease to wins against the other two pairings.
A fine result all round gents and the winning streak continues.
