Melton Leagues Update

Hello everyone,

I hope you’ve all had a good summer and are now back in the swing of your new badminton season.

There are 7 league results in so far this season although before those please can I advertise the first tournament of the season.  This is a Mixed Mystery Tournament to be played at Asfordby Amateurs Sports Hall on Sunday 25h November from 10am.  The exact details of how this will be arranged are still be sorted out, but hopefully we can have a lot of entrants and get the tournaments off to a good start this year.

The first Ladies match of the season was played at Mars with Belvoir visiting.  After a season with no wins from their six games last year Mars started off in excellent fashion with a 6-3 victory here.

In Mens Division 1, new club Meltonshire (formed from some former Melton OGs players) started off the season with a good 7-2 victory at home to a two pair Belvoir side. Belvoir then played Bottesford at home and reversed their fortunes with another 7-2 victory.

In Mixed Division 1 Bottesford, last years runners up (and therefore favourites for this season after OGs voluntarily dropped to div 2) started the season strongly again with an 8-1 victory away to Staveley Ams.

In Mixed Division 2, a strong Mars B got off to an excellent start with a 7-2 victory at home to Belvoir Bottesford. Radmoor also started their season with a 5-4 victory away to OGs, and Belvoir B recorded a 5-4 home victory at home to Grantham B (another new entry this season).

Best of luck for the season to everyone.
