Melton Leagues Overview

It has been a busy time in the Melton League with 11 games reported since the last email. Starting in the Mens Division 1, two games for Oakham, and two home defeats by 6 games to 3. First a loss to Grantham A which keeps the bottom of the league very tight, followed by a defeat to a two-pair Belvoir who stay third but have played a game less than the two teams above them.

In Mens 2, Belvoir Bottesford continue to find it tough going with an 8-1 loss at home to OGs, followed by a 9-0 loss away to Staveley Ams. Staveley go top after this result, but have played two games more than unbeaten Grantham who are 5 points behind.

In Mixed 1, OGs and Belvoir both continued their 100% record with 8-1 victories away, to Staveley Ams and Oakham respectively. Staveley won the battle of the bottom two teams with a hard fought 5-4 victory away to Oakham which took them to 9 points from their 4 games, 3 ahead of Oakham.

In Mixed 2, two strong performances from Radmoor sees them climb to third after a 6-3 win away to Mars which was followed by a 9-0 victory at home to a struggling Great Dalby. Grantham went top after a very close match with Belvoir B which saw them win the last two matches to clinch the game 5-4, thanks in no part two first pair Sonal Modi and Rob Howbrook who won all three of their games. Uppingham remain strong favourites for this league and are only 2 points behind Grantham but with 3 games in hand.
