Melton League Report – Paul Haynes

Hi everyone,
Results flowing in thick and fast at the moment for Mens and Mixed so thanks to all the captains for keeping up the good work.
In Mens Division 1 Meltonshire have gone top with two 5-4 away victories at Grantham and Belvoir. They are now out ahead on 32 from 5 games with Belvoir, Bottesford and Grantham all bunched behind them with Mars A a few points further back, although they have played less games.  The relegation battle between Belvoir, Bottesford and Grantham is going to very close!
In Mens 2, Oakham have already finished their season, and remained unbeaten to achieve an instant return to the first division for next year. Congratulations to John McMillan and his team for an excellent set of results.
In Mixed 1, two very one-sided games with Uppingham recording a 9-0 whitewash of Staveley Ams and Bottesford defeating Grantham A by the same scoreline.  Mars A stay on top with 39 from 5 (5 wins) but Bottesford have closed to 34 from 4 (4 wins).
In Mixed 2, another victory for Radmoor to make it 5 from 5 and gain clear water between themselves and Grantham in 2nd. They are the only team in Mixed 2 with a win/loss ratio above 0.5 (for all you American sports fans) and are looking very good for the promotion spot this year.  Belvoir B also put in a strong performance away to Belvoir Bottesford with an 8-1 victory to take them off bottom spot.
One final note to everyone, quite a few captains are now sending through results on email (a scan of the scorecard is fine) which is proving a better, quicker and more efficient method than the postal service. Anyone else who wants to do this is more than welcome!
