Melton and District League Update from Paul Haynes

Hi everyone,
All of the matches in the leagues and cup have now been played so this marks my last results email out to you all.  Thank you for all of your help over the last few years in making my job of collating all the scores much easier than it could have been.
First, in the final match from Mens Division 1 unfortunately Bottesford were unable to get a team out to play Mars A so had to concede which has meant they finish bottom, 2 points behind Grantham and are therefore relegated to division 2 next year.  Mars finish just two points behind Meltonshire in second.
In Mixed Division 1 the winner takes all match between Mars A and Bottesford was won convincingly by Mars A by 7 games to 2. Congratulations to Barry Pick and his team who finish the season with 9 wins from 10 and 77 points. Barry and his partner Tracy White also went the whole season undefeated winning all 30 of their matches, only dropping 3 sets along the way – a great achievement.
Uppingham also cemented their place in third with an 8-1 victory away to already relegated Staveley Ams.  Uppingham finished 3 points clear of Belvoir A with Granthm a further 20 points back.
In Mixed Division 2 Radmoor made it a 100% season for them with a close 5-4 victory away to Belvoir Bottesford.  A big congratulations to Kitty Hon and her team who joined the league five seasons ago and have come on massively this year in terms of results to take the league title.  In second are Melton OGs five points behind.
Finally, the Les Hall final was played this week between Belvoir A from division 1 and Belvoir Bottesford from division 2.  A very tight match which went down to the final rubber was won by Belvoir Bottesford 5 to 4 – congratulations to Jeremy Green and his team in this their first year of entering the cup.
One last reminder that the league AGM is taking place at Hamilton Tennis Club in Melton on Thursday 23rd at 7:30pm.  We would love to see a member of each club there.  If anyone is interested in taking on my role as results secretary then just let me know.
Thanks,
Paul Haynes
